Background

HFESNZ is seeking expressions of interest from members for the establishment of a Psychosocial Risk Special Interest Group.

Psychosocial risk is increasingly recognised as a significant work health and safety issue, extending beyond traditional wellbeing and HR considerations into work design, organisational systems, and human factors. As expectations around the management of psychosocial hazards continue to evolve, there is growing interest in how human factors and ergonomics can contribute to understanding and addressing these risks.

Psychosocial risk has also been a recurring theme across HFESNZ conferences, symposiums, and professional discussions, highlighting both the relevance of the topic and the expertise that exists within our membership.

Purpose

The proposed Psychosocial Risk Special Interest Group would provide a forum for HFESNZ members to share knowledge, build capability, and explore the application of human factors and systems thinking to psychosocial risk.

Objectives

The proposed objectives of the group are to support learning, discussion, and collaboration relating to psychosocial risk. This may include sharing methods, tools, research, case studies, and practical experiences from members working across a range of industries and disciplines.

The group would also provide opportunities to collaborate with other HFESNZ technical groups, recognising the connections between psychosocial risk, work design, organisational performance, musculoskeletal health, safety outcomes, and human error.

Expressions of Interest

This proposed group would be open to all HFESNZ members with an interest in psychosocial risk and its relationship to human factors and ergonomics.

Members interested in joining the group, contributing to its development, or assisting with coordination and administration are encouraged to register their interest.
